The 6th annual World Floral Expo closed its doors yesterday on a successful and satisfying trade show. The number of exhibitors was up by 10% compared to 2009. Many companies registered to exhibit at the last minute - a clear sign that although we still live in economic uncertainty the industry has optimism for the future.

The number of attending qualified buyers was also up by almost 20%. Qualified buyers made it to Miami and spent time planning and resourcing with their favorite suppliers and with new companies at the fair. Most attendees visited the trade show floor two consecutive days to continue talks with exhibitors.

On Tuesday morning before the trade show opening a Cargo Logistics Conference was presented for exhibitors and attendees with a panel of 6 speakers representing American Airlines, Continental Airlines, FlowersOnline, Liege Airport, International Logistics Flower Center, and Armellini Express Lines.

Tuesday night the official grand opening party held around the swimming pool of the Double Tree Hotel was enjoyed by over 300 WFE exhibitors and attendees. It was lively gathering with social and business conversations flowing amidst four hours of food, drink, and entertainment.

During the evening festivities prizes were awarded to the following exhibitors:

The Best Perishable Novelty Award went to Olij Roses from Holland for their new variety “Red Paris”. The Best Non Perishable Novelty Award went to the French company Polypap for their new “Bouquetto” retail packaging design.

The open house company tour on Wednesday was also well attended by almost 50 buyers. They had an excellent tour of the facilities of Continental Flowers, Mayesh Wholesale, Trans International Cargo, Armellini, and Trans World Forwarding.

Show manager Dick van Raamsdonk said, “It was very good to see how many new buyers came to Miami to check out the show and meet suppliers”. Show organizers noted that Canadian buyers were also well represented at WFE 2010.

When canvassed most participants expressed that the overall outcome for both exhibitors and visitors was above expectations. When asked about his results after two days on the show floor one exhibitor mentioned “There was a good buzz going around the trade show”.

Next year’s World Floral Expo is scheduled for Tuesday March 8 to Thursday March 10, 2011 and will once again be held at the Double Tree Hotel in Miami although the Exhibition Hall will carry a new name: “The MACC” (the Miami Airport Convention Center).

Floral industry buyers and suppliers should make note on their calendars and room in their budgets to participate with WFE 2011 because this show is on the rise and not to be missed.

The preparations for World Floral Expo 2010 have just started and are in full swing, including the attendee promotion campaign of the worldwide Floricultural showcase for the floral wholesale & mass market-retail buyer. Therefore the earlier your application or reservation will be in, the sooner your company will be included in the attendee promotion for the 6th edition that will be held from Tuesday March 9 to Thursday March 11 in the Double Tree Miami Mart/Airport Hotel & Exhibition Center right in the floral heart of Miami.

A new updated floor plan has been drawn and hereby enclosed. All booth spaces that are not taken by 2009 exhibitors at this date, reserved or booked, will be released and offered to other exhibitors. Booth space applications will be allocated and based on date and time of email or fax receipt of the contract form. For a reservation an email will do and the reserved space will be secured for 4 weeks.

World Floral Expo 2009, a great success!

Miami, FL - The Doubletree Miami Mart/Airport Hotel & Exhibition Center was the center of global attention for the world fresh flower industry during the 5th World Floral Expo in Miami, Florida held last week (March 10-12) in the heart of Miami's flower import & distribution area. The 3 day trade show attracted over 300 highly qualified attendees and 121 exhibiting companies from 14 countries.

The Show is designed especially for US floral wholesalers and high volume retailers to enable them to select the wide range of products from companies of their choice.

Displaying flowers from Miami importers, growers from all over the world and not to forget from breeders, showing their newest varieties available for production, is the main exhibitor profile of World Floral Expo. A big name, but more and more doing what it promised from the beginning: becoming the Number One event for the U.S. Floral Industry in the Number One Floral City in the U.S., Miami!

And the success of this years' edition certainly proves to live up to the name it established 5 years ago. Several companies said that the first day only already gave them more business than all 4 show days of last year.

A Miami importer that exhibited wrote: "It was our most successful Show ever. We were able to write orders at the show and solidify accounts that we had been working on. The organization and professionalism was greatly appreciated by everyone".

Qualified Buyers that visited were also very happy with the show's policy that all events in and around the trade show were free for them to attend. "A big difference with other trade shows" which is really appreciated", was a much heard comment. The opening night cocktails were held outside at the Sheraton Pool side was a great success and everybody enjoyed the ambiance and networking at the same time.
